Sightbox × Fresno First Bank00 / 08

A field guide to the companies we can help.

Built for Fresno First Bank: what Sightbox does, how to spot a fit in your book, and how to make an intro in two minutes.

01 · Welcome

Why we built this for FFB

FFB's clients are exactly the kind of businesses we do our best work for, the Silicon Valley tech companies first and the rest of your book right behind them. They're established, growing, and often at the point where the business has outgrown how it looks, sounds, and runs.

We didn't want to hand you a brochure. So we built this: everything you need to recognize when one of your clients could use us, what to tell them, and a simple way to send them our way. No need to loop us in first.

Take ten minutes with it once. After that, you'll probably only need the last page.

Who we are

Sightbox is a branding team that helps growing companies turn a strong business into one people believe in.

15Years in business
~150Client engagements
6Person core team

Founded by Charlie Hinojosa and Nathan Thompson. Our team of six includes a full-time art director, branding specialists, a dev team, and a video and content team.

We've run Sightbox through a full cycle: the 2021–22 startup boom, the 2023 investment crash, and the AI disruption that followed. We came out of it as a smaller, faster, AI-augmented team.

03 · What we do

The brand, and the company next door.

Sightbox makes a company easy to understand and hard to forget. When the business also needs to run differently, we bring in Flux, our AI operations partner. And Beacon, our own product, shows a company what AI is saying about it.

The thesis

As technology gets easier to copy, brand becomes the moat. We move companies through three stages:

  1. Stage 01

    Product Market Fit

    You have something people buy.

  2. Stage 02

    Purpose Market Fit

You can say why it matters.

  3. Stage 03

    Promise Market Fit

People believe in it and come back.

Product Market Fit gets you customers.Promise Market Fit gets you believers.

How we work
Engagements

Ongoing retainer partnerships (preferred) or flat-rate projects with a defined scope.

Sweet spot

Companies with real revenue or fresh capital that want an ongoing partner, typically six figures and up.

Best timing

Right after a raise, a growth spurt, or a leadership change, when the business has moved ahead of its brand.

04 · Spotting a fit

When to think of us

If an FFB client says or shows any of these, it's worth a conversation.

  • 01

    Just raised or refinanced.

New capital, and they need to look the part.

  • 02

    Outgrown their brand.

The brand no longer matches the ambition.

  • 03

    Hard to explain.

The founder can't clearly say what the company does.

  • 04

    Stalled growth.

Early customers came easily; the next ones don't.

  • 05

    Curious about AI.

Want AI in their operations but don't know where to start.

  • 06

    Chasing bigger deals.

Growing fast (often $5M+ in revenue) and competing for larger contracts.

  • 07

    Changing hands.

A leadership, ownership, or generational transition.

  • 08

    Preparing for a sale.

Getting ready for an exit, acquisition, or new investors.

Fit check

Thinking of an FFB client? Three quick questions.

1. Do they have real revenue or fresh capital?
2. Is something changing: growth, a raise, new leadership, or a new market?
3. Are they willing to invest in how they're seen and how they run?

Who we're not for
  • Pre-revenue ideas without capital behind them
  • Anyone shopping for the cheapest logo
  • Businesses not ready to invest in their brand and story
05 · Proof by industry

Have we done this before? Probably.

Filter by the FFB client's industry to see who we've worked with and what we did. Tech comes first, then everything else.

06 · Stories

A few stories worth retelling

Short versions you can pass along to FFB clients.

Story 01

Upbound

Winning the pitch, launching AI

Situation

A $69M-backed cloud infrastructure company was launching an AI-powered version of its platform and needed a brand to match.

What we did

Won the work against nine other agencies. Delivered a brand evolution, new website, sales deck, 3D hero animation, event materials for KubeCon, and a full brand guide.

Outcome

A one-time launch project turned into an ongoing partnership.

Story 02

Tugboat Logic

Rebranding ahead of a sale

Situation

A security-compliance software company heading into acquisition talks had a brand that was getting in the way.

What we did

A rebrand timed to the deal process.

Outcome

Cleared a key brand issue in the deal. The company was acquired.

Why it matters to FFB

Owners preparing to sell or bring in investors are a strong referral fit.

Story 03

Beyond

Relaunching a household name

Situation

After Bed Bath & Beyond's bankruptcy, its new owner needed to relaunch the name and bring several brands together, on a tight timeline.

What we did

Unified the sub-brands under Beyond.com and Beyond+, fast enough to support a time-sensitive relaunch.

Our company found gold in the mine with Sightbox... when that value equates to results, that relationship becomes sticky.

07 · What to say

What to say when they ask

Short answers you can repeat as-is when an FFB client asks.

No. They do brand and marketing, and when a business also needs to change how it runs, they bring in Flux, a sister company that builds AI into operations.
